The American Daredevil® Tommy Pearson’s biography


Tommy Pearson was borned August 1st, 1960 in Birmingham, Alabama. Tommy attended Green Acres Elementry School, 2 years at Midfield High and graduated Los Angeles High. Tommy played football at Midfield and Los Angeles High schools.


On Mothers Day 1971, Tommy’s father drowned fishing on the Coosa river in Sylacauga, Alabama. Tommy has one older brother, Larry Pearson and one younger sister Mary Pearson.


Tommy is married to Maria Acosta Pearson and have been for 25 years and they have 6 children: Three boy’s Adam, Joshua and Jonathan, and three girl’s Carolyn, Summer and Faith.


Tommy moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 17 where he lived for 7 years. When he met Maria, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they lived for 25 years. Tommy and his family moved to Alabama in 2007.


Two of Tommy’s son’s Joshua and Jonathan along with one of his daughters is performing with him at his shows.


Jonathan has stated that, he would like to one day take over one day.


Tommy has always been into daredevil stunts following Evel Knievel. Evel was a man that would not quit or back down. Tommy believes, “a man can do anything as long as he keeps God number one in his life and keep the faith, There is nothing impossible.”


The love of danger and cars came naturally. His family was in racing in the Birmingham area. David Pearson, the stock car legend, is his third cousin. Tommy raced cars in Vegas but kept coming back to “crashing cars and jumping.”


When asked, why do you put your life on the line like this? His reply is, “ for the Love of It and the Challenge also to entertain the crowd”.


Tommy started at 13 years of age. He started jumping bicycles and crashing through walls of fire. He tried to jump a large creek with concert walls on both side behind his house. He built a large ramp and when he did the jump, he over shot and crashed. He was taken to the hospital and had 3 broken ribs. Afterwards, Tommy stated that, “this is what he wants to do”. He said, “ that they were so many kids out there to watch, the Police had to come out to control them”. They let Tommy go ahead and jump. Tommy went on and jump 2 cars on a bicycle at the Alabama State Fair.


In 1998, Tommy was performing in St. George, Utah. He was to crash his motorcycle through 4 wooden walls of fire. When Tommy arrived, he saw the arena was to small for the stunt, but Tommy stated the show must go. Tommy went down on the last wall and he broke his collar bone, shoulder, 2 ribs and a concussion.


On September 22nd, 2002 The American Daredevil® Tommy Pearson successfully jumped a Car from USA to Mexico across the Rio Grande for the “Freedom Jump”.


On January 12th, 2003 The American Daredevil® Tommy Pearson was the first person to successfully jumped a Car across a portion of the “Grand Canyon Jump for Christ”.


On September 4th, 2008 The American Daredevil® Tommy Pearson was attempting a 200 foot Car jump in Alabama. The jump went well, Tommy jump beyond 200 feet. But upon landing, Tommy broke his back in 3 places and crushed 3 vertebras. Tommy still walked away and was taken to the hospital about 30 minutes later by his wife Maria. Tommy went into surgery on September 8th. Tommy has made a full recovery and back to performing.

On the job, he has broken six ribs, both wrists, two fingers, his shoulder, collar bone, back In 3 places, crushed 3 vertebras and a concussion. Tommy stated, “everyday can’t be a perfect day at the office and I will guarantee an awesome crash”.
